Hosting a birthday party at a venue where no outside food is allowed, in the afternoon between 2:30-4:30. Do I need to provide pizza to the adults too or just serve them cake?
If you were attending one at that time, what is your expectation? |
I would not expect a meal at that time. |
I don't provide food to parents of elementary school children because I don't want to encourage them to stay. Drop your kid off and go. |
I don't think you need to serve a meal to anyone at that time, but if you are serving pizza to the kids and are inviting parents to stay, then I think it is rude not to offer them pizza. So if I were you I would just do fruit/chips/pretzels for everyone or make it a drop off party. |
Yes. Get some extra for parents. We had a party this hour, both kids and adults ate. Its rude not to feed guests and annoying to give kids cake or snacks at 4 without a meal. |
Asked and answered in the DCUM common thread q&as. Yes, provide food, yes have enough for adults, even if it’s rude for adults to eat at kid parties. |
Yes, order extra for adults. Also please have water for adults. I've been to a few parties where there was only juice for the kids and nothing to drink for the adults. |
You expect a meal at 4pm? Do you really eat dinner at 4pm? |
Yes, we do eat dinner at 4 as mine have PM activities. We just had a party at that time and all the parents and kids ate. |
I would not expect food at 2-4. |
I personally hate when you feed my child hits cake. For a two hour venue with a 1/2 hour drive time in beteeen, he will be hungry. Just serve some cheap pizza please. |
OP here. I am planning to serve the kids pizza since it is between 2:30 and 4:30.
I was wondering if I have to serve the parents too or just give them cake and water at that hour. |
Yes, you buy some extra pizza and serve the parents. They are taking the time to come to your party, the least you can do is feed them. |
If adults are expected to stay then serve them as much as the kids. I think you’d be fine doing just heavy snacks (fruit tray, goldfish, cheese and crackers etc) before cake when the party is 2:30-4:30 but if you’re serving a full meal to the kids then feed their parents as well. |
She said. I outside food allowed. I would just get extra pizza for adults. The end. |
