Is your 4yr old in a car seat or booster?

Tall, almost 4 year old. In the Diono Radian but still in the 5 point harness. I am going to keep her in that for a while.

Heck - half this board rear faces their 4 year olds so I don't think you will get a lost of booster responses.

Car seat. Almost 5. I will switch to booster next year for kindergarten.

Our older kid was rear facing until she was 4.5 but then we moved to another country where we don't have a car and are in and out of taxis somewhat frequently so our younger kid has been in a high back booster since 3 and on a bubble bum since 4...

Age is irrelevant. Weight and height are what matters.

I don't think this is totally true. You can have a big toddler whose bones are still developing like a smaller toddler. Height and weight matter but so does age.

One of mine was 6.5 and the other 7 when we switched them to high back boosters. They were 8 when they went to a backless. At 4 both were forward facing in Britax Frontiers.

5 pt harness carseat

Did not move my kids to a high back booster with seatbelt until 6.

It’s all size related. My oldest was booster ready at 4 but #2 will be closer to 5.

Harnessed seat.

Car seat with harness. It can be used with a seatbelt and I’m tempted. We just went on vacation and the car rental place gave us a booster seat since DD exceeded the height requirement for their car seat. It was SO easy to use and now I’m wondering when we’ll make the switch although we won’t anytime soon.

That link has bolded statements all over it saying that 3 year olds are not ready, 4 year olds are not ready, boosters are for 5 and up.

So, it would seem that it doesn't agree with you that age is not relevant.

What the article says is that the relevant factor is maturity. It’s linked to age, but not measured by age.

Sorry about your reading comprehension.
