Daycare suggestions near Shepherd Park

Anonymous
We are moving to DC from VA and are in search of a daycare for a 1 year old. I feel like pickings are slim. Any great, affordable, daycare suggestions for Shepherd Park/Takoma/Silver Spring area?

Thank you!

Goddard isn't affordable, but people seem to like it and it would be convenient.

In Takoma Park (but starting a bit older), there's Takoma Park Child Development Center (TPCDC) and Takoma Children's School.

Easter Seals has a new director and it seems that people are happy with them again.

Under 2K a month would be ideal!

Silver Spring YMCA starts at 18 months if you're looking for a more affordable option

Our daycare was in Bethesda, but if you haven't already, you should join the SP listserv and ask there for recs--people will be happy to chime in, as there are a lot of young families in the neighborhood these days. Welcome to the neighborhood!

If you work downtown, there are a bunch of daycares on Kennedy Street in Brightwood Park that might work.

Buenos Amigos is a nice in-home, if you’re looking into that as well. It’s in Forest Glen.

I live in Silver Spring right across from Shepherd Park and I agree, child care pickings are so slim around here. We ended up choosing a center near work in Rockville. We love our center but wish we could have found something as nice and affordable closer to home.

I didn’t realize this post was from a year ago.

In DTSS for that age, you have Goddard, Easter Seals and Quality Time for the center-based daycares. NOAA has a Bright Horizons, but it's hard to get into as a non-employee (but no harm in trying?). United Therapeutics also has a Bright Horizon; for a short time they were allowing non-employees, so you might want to try that too.
