The best way to increase your chances of enrollment is to live the TMPS area. There are 25 seats given to neighborhood kids without competition from the rest of the county.

The important parts, in simple English:

1) You can only join the magnet if you apply in 5th grade. You cannot join the magnet if the child is a current 6th, 7th, or 8th grader.

2) Applications have not yet happened for this year, but again the family needs to have a current 5th grader (10/11 year old).

3) Admissions are based on academic record, and on a test administered in the fall. You do not need to be a current MCPS student to take the test, but you do need to be a Montgomery County resident.

Oh, and another important moment: your child's chances of getting in are VERY small. So don't think it's 'enrollment', it's a cutthroat competition.
