When to worry about preeclampsia?

Anonymous
I have had a nasty headache the last two days and this morning noticed that my fingers are swollen and had to take my rings off. I typically have very low blood pressure and at my last visit 2 weeks ago it was 110/60. I am 18 weeks. Should I be worried and get it checked out? It might just be a cold too. I don’t know.

Always get it checked out! You would be on the early side for pre-e, but it's such an easy screening, you might as well go in and get your bp and urine checked.

yes get it checked and make sure they pay attention to your BP trending up over time over your own baseline.

I had pre e and HELLP for #1 and am monitored by a team of MFMs. They say pre e before 20 weeks isn't really a thing. But if you're worried get a BP cuff and check at home if your're concerned. I think every woman should at least own one.

I have low blood pressure and was diagnosed with pre-e at 127/something. I would go use a blood pressure cuff at a CVS and if you get a high reading call your OB. I don't know what it means for it to happen so early in your pregnancy (I thought it was more of a full-term thing) but if your BP is still high you need to get looked at.

this is true. i think there are, like, two recorded cases of pre-e before 20 weeks and they were pretty extreme.

however, a two day headache and swollen fingers are good reasons to call you doc anyways.
