| The Frappuccino thread got me thinking? How much coffee does your teen drink? Mine has a large coffee every morning. Seems like a lot. But he says it’s necessary to stay awake for school. |
|
No.
Vanilla frap has no coffee,.... That said vanilla ... 2 x per year. |
|
Yep. I make him an iced latte every morning
.. 1 cup chilled coffee, skim milk, splash of half and half and protein powder. Only way we can get out the door at 6:30 am |
| My son wants it but with lots of sugar and milk, so it’s a weekend treat only. |
| My 14 y.o. son drinks an iced latte at home every morning to get going. |
| My 16 year old drinks an espresso or an iced coffee. |
| Mine will drink a double espresso if he wakes up tired or needs to stay up late to do homework. Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending how you look at it), it doesn't really help him stay awake. (I can drink a cup of strong black coffee right before bed and it has no effect on me). |
| 1, 8oz. Caramel flavored coffee before school, a few times a week, he’s almost 16 |
|
My fourteen year old started drinking a cup of coffee with me every morning about a year ago.
I actually love it. It feels like something fun we enjoy together. |

Doesn't coffee hinder growth? |
| Not interested in drinking coffee yet. We have suggested she keep caffeine consumption to 70 mg per day while still growing. Once the moody stage starts I might just hand her a coffee in the morning and retreat though! |
Johns Hopkins says no. Too much can inhibit sleep, which might have repercussions. Would you have the same concern over a can of coke? The caffeine amount is similar. |
Yes, as well as strong black tea, which is what I drink. My teen has growth problems, so because of the possibility that caffeine may impact his growth, he stays away from caffeine. |
| Mine don't drink any coffee. Prefer coke, pepsi or tea. |
| A latte is an espresso drink. I think some of the PPs are making what’s called an iced coffee. |
