Anyone else get a stomachache from collagen peptides?

Anonymous
Adding collagen to my diet is the only change I made in the last two weeks. On day 10 or so, my lower stomach started bothering me.

Anyone else have this?

Yes! Bit of diarrhea and lower intestinal cramping. Just cut back to half doses. Your stomach just needs time to get used to it.

What type and what do you take this for?

Can’t remember the name (not home to check) but it was listed as the best in google search and I’m taking it for my skin and nails - strictly vanity.

I felt like I had an intestinal blockage! I stopped for a few days, drank gallons of water and finally had an amazing poop. When I started the collagen again I di half doses and only with food.

Yes, I experienced this with vital proteins collagen powder. Happened 2-3 times in a row, so I stopped adding it and have been too afraid to try again.

I vomited after taking it the first time. Never again.

Make sure to check where that collagen is from. Is the beef sourced from China? Manufactured in ... doesn’t count.

Same ! My GI thing lasted for days.

I suspect that there is a contaminant in this product. It’s not regulated by the FDA. Who knows how sanitary the process is that’s used to extract the collagen? Ever seen how sausage is made? Except sausage is at least cooked at high temps before you eat it ....

OP here. I went back to the comments section on amazon and a few people had the same reaction. Wow, never again! The stomach pain yesterday was intense. Today it’s better but still there a little.

I wouldn't ever ingest some random supplement I bought on Amazon. You have ZERO IDEA what is in it.

Read the 1 star reviews on Amazon - people find bugs in it or it's fake or it's spoiled. When there's a specific product like that, I order from the manufacturer's website to make sure I'm getting the real thing.

Yes and I stopped taking it and sent it back.

Try bone broth. It’s yummy and easy and doesn’t rip my intestines like the powder did.
