I'm reading the kinder routine thread and someone in there said their sister does a warm washcloth to clean the kid pretty regularly vs shower oe bath. Others have chimed in with similar time saving tips - skip the daily shower or bath. Is this routine? Do adults also do this? I guess I just assumed everyone was showering more or less every day, even if supwr quick. Maybe my family is exceptionally active but sticking my kids in bed after a whole day of wear with a warm wash cloth bath and then to do it again back-to-back is kind of gross. Am I a clean freak? Is this like an environmental trend? Or is this just purely to save time?! |
I've literally never heard of this warm cloth business anywhere but on DCUM--we do daily baths/shower. If I'm going to go through that trouble, I'd just stick them in the bath for two minutes and scrub them down.
Perhaps there's a random day in the winter that we skip a bath, but it's rare. Kid has eczema, which gets worse if we skip too much--plus, bath is just part of the bedtime routine and kid loves it. |
I don't know how you'd save time with a wash cloth compared to a quick soap, rinse and towel-off? |
I feel like we discussed this fairly recently - both for kids and adults. |
My dad called it a Navy shower.
My kids don't shower/bathe every day. When they were babies, I didn't see the need for it and one had sensitive skin that didn't do well with water. Now they're kids, still don't see the need. When they are dirty or sweaty, yes. Otherwise no. |
It's a recurring topic on DCUM. A source of endless fascination, apparently, on both sides. |
Yes, how many times do we have to go through this? People/families have wildly varying bathing routines. |
We called it a "sponge bath" when I was growing up, it was for days when you didn't really get dirty. |
Could you please define “not really dirty?” The only time I allow my kids to skip bath is if they didn’t leave the house. If they leave the house and go to any public place, I consider them dirty. |
We did. ![]() |
