Dealers offering lifetime Powertrain warranty

Anonymous
Sometimes dealerships offer a lifetime Powertrain warranty with the caveat that all work/repairs/maintenance be done by their service Dept.
Anyone have any experience with this? My local dealership does not offer this but there’s one about an hour away that does—is it worthwhile to go to the further dealer that offers the lifetime warranty? Sounds too good to be true!

What is "lifetime"?

Do they mean the "lifetime of the powertrain" Or the "lifetime of the owner"?

No. Do you want to drive an hour away to be ripped off for every service? If your engine dies, you would probably junk your car anyway.

If the engine does, the "lifetime" of the powertrain is over! This is why I'm wondering what "lifetime" even means in this regard.

does= dies

If your engine dies, it's lifetime is over and so is your warranty. See how that works?

To clarify, it means "as long as you own the vehicle." One Honda dealer near me stipulates that all repairs must be made at the recommended service intervals at any ASE certified shop.
