| Am I crazy for lusting after a great camel miu miu bag on bluefly? I have never bought anything by the designer. Thoughts? Thanks. |
| Miu Miu is Prada - the younger hipper (and less expensive) diffusion line. Love the stuff! |
Ah, well I was looking at a prada bag too-- it all makes sense now Price point for bags is about the same though?

New poster here. The price point for Miu Miu is not that far off from Prada, at least not for bags and shoes. Prada does have a slightly lower price point line called "Car Shoe" (available locally at Neimans) with similarly lovely leathers and workmanship, but less intricacy and less specialised leathers.
I have a black Miu Miu bag that is 2+ years old , looks brand new, and gets compliments everytime I carry it. I feel like I'm carrying a work of art! I also have a pair of Miu Miu pumps that are 5 or 6 years old and in great shape and still stylish despite their age. I find super high end stuff of this sort to have craftsmanship and materials that are hard to match. It's a different approach to buy top quality that lasts forever. I have to make some tradeoffs to afford nicer things--but I'm okay with that. |
Interesting-- thanks! Hey, on Car Shoe, are you sure you are right about this? When I have been in Italy there are car shoe stores and I thought they were more along the lines of a very old leather co not a Prada spin off? |
I looked it up (really, don't I have better things to do) Prada bought control of Car Shoe in 2001. Makes sense now, but the Co is very old. . .very Italian. |

Big diff between price points of Prada and Miu Miu. The latter meant to be the lower price line for the somewhat younger clientele. Called a diffusion line. A leather Prada handbag will set you back about 2K.
Car Shoe is a company owned by Prada, but not a Prada shoe. Different vision, different designer, etc. In addition to the regular Prada and Miu Miu shoe lines, there is also Prada's Linea Rosa line - lower price point and sportier shoe. Soles are black rubber with red line. |
