| We have never been to Bethany beach, so family would like to go for a long weekend next summer. Any recommendations on where to stay since this will be our first time? On the beach would be preferable if that's an option. |
| Also, any suggestions on what to do there other than the beach? Or do you have to go all the way to OC or Rehobeth for activities? |

There is only one hotel on the beach in Bethany. Yes, you have to go to Rehoboth or Ocean city for activities. Why not just stay there? There are a lot more hotels, though not really on the beach.
Bethany has: https://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/rehri-bethany-beach-ocean-suites-residence-inn/?scid=45f93f1b-bd77-45c9-8dab-83b6a417f6fe It will be $500-$800 a night in the summer. Rehoboth has: http://www.atlanticsandshotel.com https://www.henlopenhotel.com https://boardwalkplaza.com/dining/ Personally, in Rehoboth, I like the Avenue Inn and the Bellmoor. Brighton Suites is ok, but a block back from the ocean. Avenue Inn is across the street from Brighton. Bellmoor is another block south. They are all within walking distance to town for restaurants. Funland is awesome for kids. |
| How old are your kids? What do they like to do? |
| Check out Sea Colony. |

We did a last minute one night trip in August, stayed at the holiday inn express across from sea colony and it was close enough to walk easily, clean, cheap when you figure it comes with free breakfast.
We did the Rehoboth boardwalk because that’s what dh and I did growing up and the need for grottos, Kobe brothers, thrashers and fishers was real (8 years since our last visit). |

The Marriott property is right at the end of the boardwalk in town. It'll be pricey. Sea Colony is it's on property less than a mile away. There are beachfront condos and smaller units across Route 1 (still walking distance or I think there's a shuttle).
There are some activities -- most nights there's something right in town (music on the bandstand, bonfire, movie nights), the bookstore has kids events as does the library. There's a little arcade off the main street and a playground at the end of the block. The bigger things - amusement parks, go karts, etc...you'll have to go to Rehoboth. But it's not a bad day trip, and we prefer staying in quieter Bethany anyway. |
| Most people rent a house when they go to BB. |
| It’s a house rental kind of place. Nice but sleepy. I am low key but found it boring. Would be better with extended family, a pack of cousins, and a lot of board games. |

Not a lot hotels. Rent a house or condo for the weekend. It’s more of a laid back, family beach. It’s good if you have young toddlers or kids. They can amuse themselves on the beach all day. The beach is never crazy crowded so great and you don’t get any of the loud, party kind of people. There is a small boardwalk and the main town is smaller than Rehoboth or OC but cute. So good with younger kids. If you have older kids who need more action than Rehoboth might be better
We really like it because it’s laid back beach during the day. Then we catch dinner. If the kids want to do rides or amusement stuff, we then do quick drive to Rehoboth or OC. It’s easy because Bethany is right in between both. There is 1 mini-golf place in town. But if you want more choices with mini-golf then OC is the place for that in the evenings, |
| check out Addy Sea--it is right on beach and has always looked nice from the outside. |
Rent a place in Sea Colony. They have condos on the beach or townhomes/houses. Buses/trollies take you between the properties, and there are plenty of activities and pools for kids and adults. |
For a week though. You won’t find anything for a weekend in the summer. |
