Congestion nwont go away :(

Anonymous
Baby is almost two weeks and she has been congested since like day . Ped said to do saline and bulb auction. We are, a few times a day but the bulb doesn't seem to be pulling anything out. Ped said nose Frida was too big to use? We've also been doing steam around the clock..

Up holding her all night because its way worse laying down and she won't sleep otherwise.

Any remedies??

Does she just have congestion? And no other cold symptoms?

At that age I think congestion is normal and you have to just do saline and suction and then they’ll grow out of it

You need to call back and explain that she can't sleep because of her symptoms. This is serious.

We have called and they aren't concerned.

My sil is a doctor too. She showed me signs of labored breathing and said it's fine. Most newborns are congested. It just seems worse and now she doesn't like laying flat to sleep

No other signs of illness. No fever..

I'll try the Frida. Ped said it would be be useless since it's so much offer than nostrils but bulb is doing nothing

My nephew slept in a bouncy chair for the first year of his life because of colic. He turned out fine. Maybe she sleeps in her car seat until she can safely sleep in a bouncy seat.

DS was congested from pretty much birth until 2 when the doctor OKed using allergy medicine. He had a cough from all the post nasal drip. We took him to the Ped regularly. His lungs were fine, he wasn’t sick, just post nasal drp from the congestion. We were so thrilled when we could start allergy meds. His nose cleared up, the cough went away and he has been fine since then. We use allergy meds as soon as his nose starts to run because he gets the worst cough.

Are you nursing or is she having formula?

If nursing, start changing your diet and see what happens. Start by eliminating dairy. Then gluten.

My first was congested the first couple of weeks. Her nose passages were just too small she grew out of it as her features grew. Interestingly my second has a much larger nose and nose bridge and is not congested. Still snuffly loud breathing butbji congestion.

This is unnecessary. MPSI takes a few months to build up, so the baby can’t have it yet.
