Does anyone have their used wedding ball gown to rent for a day? I am a nanny who is very clean and responsible.I have always dreamt of wearing a princess like ball gown for my wedding but I must be honest that I cant afford one. I will be getting married early next year but I cant afford a beautiful ball gown. Can anyone rent me their used one for a day? I promise to give it back in excellent condition and cleaned after my wedding. I wear size 14 in dresses and I am 5 foot 8 inches tall. Thanks a bunch Cathy |

Cathy, There are many cultures that rent their wedding gowns for the day (Asian people come to mind) - in case you get little or no response here. You might have to dig a bit, but I am sure you will find one. Also, I have been in a few consignment shops and EVERY one I have been in has new looking wedding gowns! [I notice because I like nice dresses]. And there have been used wedding dress specialists in the area throughout the years. They should be far less than new, I would think. Just an FYI. Have fun! |
| My goodness, I would be so happy to lend you, even give you, mine. I bought mine used, in fact, and, well, I love it. Unforunately it is not the size you seek. I hope you find something lovely and wonderful! |

I'm about 6 inches shorter than you, so I'm clearly not the right person to help. But I bet you'll find what you're looking for on here, or maybe on CraigsList.
All the best to you! |
| Check Ebay! You will find your dream dress, in your size, possibly for less than it will cost you to dry clean a borrowed/rented one. |
| I don't have a gown you can rent, but I know there are boutiques that have rental ball and wedding gowns. In fact, I rented my wedding gown years ago when I was married, it included minor alterations (they will take up a hem and make other alterations as long as those alterations can be reversed), brought it back a few days later. THe famous one in NYC is called "Just Once" I think--but I'm sure you can find one in or near our metro area. I just googled "wedding dress rentals" just now and came up with what seem like a handful of leads. Good luck! |

why don't you try saint anthony's bridal in maryland? they let you wear it for a deposit of $100 and if you return it clean they give you your check back
you can also get a veil, shoes and stuff for your party they were awesome to me! |
| There is a Wedding Dress rental place in Crofton, MD on Rt3. I can't remember the name of it. It's too bad I am six inches sorter or I would give you mine. |
| Also, look into samples at bridal shops. I got a sample dress for my wedding for $99 - gorgeous dress, in great shape. It did need cleaning though, which cost more than the dress (I think almost $200). I'd send you to the place where I got mine, but unfortunately it is now closed. Best of luck to you and congrats! |

| Check David's Bridal store-I found a nice wedding gown for myself that was $135. There's a store in Springfield & Rockville |

Cathy -
I promise if you go to the Salvation Army in Manassas, VA (right off 66 @ Sudley Rd) they have had gorgeous sample dresses on their racks for over two months now. I don't know why they aren't selling, but I go about once a week to prowl for antique glass and I always look at the dresses (just for fun!) None are over $100, and there are all sizes and styles, some are even 100% silk and there's one Christos gown for certain. And then definitely check David's Bridal on a regular basis. I also got my gown there a few years ago for $150 and it was exactly what I was looking high and low for, but I paid less than I was expecting to. Good luck! |

8:23 again. P/S - if you go to the Manassas Salvation Army, they offer 25% off everything on Wednesdays. I think they might pull the best dresses off the floor that morning (I see them doing something, but they're not yanking all of them). You might check on Tuesday, and then come back on Wednesday to see if it's out there on sale for even less.
Most dresses are $75, some are $100, and it makes no rhyme or reason why they price differently b/c the silks can be priced less than the old ugly ones!?! |
| There are many bridal gown rental stores in the area. Just google. |
| Definitely check ebay. You could get a gown for cheaper than rental stores around here. |
