DC DMV; question about fees

Anonymous
I lost my DL and need to get a new one. I know that some DMV transactions require you to pay all your outstanding debt, for example, the last time I renewed my vehicle registration I had to pay two outstanding parking tickets. Anyone know if they make you do this when you are getting drivers license services? I have 3 outstanding tickets parking that incurred hefty fines and I just want to know if I can expect to come off that cash when I go to the DMV.

Yes, you will have to pay those tickets.

When you say outstanding do you mean you got them in the last 30-60 days and just haven't paid them yet? Or that the payment due date has already passed and they're actually delinquent?

If the former, submit an adjudication request and that stops enforcement activity so you can get your DL without having to also cough up the fines on the spot:

As an aside- do this with every speed camera or parking ticket. I have ~50% success rate of getting them dismissed.

I don’t know about the tickets but if you already had a REAL ID compliant license you can request a replacement online. I would assume the online process would indicate whether you had to pay the tickets first.

My lost DL was not a REAL ID. And they won't let me just get another copy of my lost DL, they are making me get a new REAL ID even though the one I lost doesent expire for 2 more years.
