I’m currently on my first cycle taking 2.5 mg of letrozole. I’m on CD 9 currently and go in on Friday for a follow up follicle scan. If any are between 18-20mm, I’ll trigger that night.
We’ve been TTC for 3 years now and I finally found an amazing RE who finally got the ball running after I “passed” my HSG, blood work and endometrial biopsy. I’m 30 and pretty much my only issue is that I don’t ovulate on my own. Curious if anyone had any luck on 2.5mg? My RE said the first month can be long as they see what works for me. If I don’t have any follicles ready on Friday, she said I’ll start five days of 5mg right away and keep things rolling. Just curious what others experience has been with just letrozole, ovidrel and timed intercourse. |

I needed 5mg to get things going, so don't be surprised if your first month is a bit of a slog.
We did 3 cycles of Clomid+Ovidrel+timed intercourse, then switched to Letrozole+Ovidrel for IUI cycles and got pregnant on the 3rd of those. Have you tried Clomid yet or you went right to Letrozole? My only problem was not ovulating as well, so it sounds like your odds are good and it's great you've found an RE you like! |

OP here-
So I went on Friday and I hadn’t reacted at all to the 2.5. All of my follicles were under 10mm. The nurse called me in the afternoon and told me my dr wanted me to jump right into taking 5mg for another 5 days and act like Friday was day 3 again. So I’m currently 3 days into taking the 5mg and go back Friday/cycle day “10” for another follicle scan. She told me 90% of women react to the 5mg so she had high hopes. I’m crossing my fingers that the 5 does something as I have my trigger shot in my refrigerator just waiting! Also, no she never started me on Clomid. I have PCOS and my RE said the standard protocol for PCOS patient is letrozole/femara over clomid as it has better odds of working. |
| Same thing happened to me -- started on 2.5, they didn't see much on the ultrasound, recommended I take 5 mg right away for another 3-5 days (can't remember exactly). The 5 mg did the trick, and I triggered when instructed ... and I'm due in a few weeks!! Hope it works out similarly for you! |

I have pcos and started on 2.5, didn't respond at all so RE upped it right away and started on 5mg of letrozole for another 5 days. I responded REALLY well to that and ended up getting pregnant that first try with times intercourse. That was over three years ago and now we are in the same process again for baby number 2. I just started 5mg yesterday after not responding to 2.5. Good luck!
