Did I fully mess up as parent?

15 yr old DS had friends to our vacation home and him and four friends spent night in his room with four bunk beds and a twin. Three boys and two sisters who have all been friends for a long time. When I went in room in am my DS and one girl were in bed together. All others asleep in separate beds. I’m freaking out because I think though they have been friends they now like each other. He also asked about sex a couple weeks ago. It never occurred to me that anything would happen in such a public situation. He is generally so shy. What do I do now?

Talk to him. Why would you put boys and girls in the same room and not monitor things? You are asking for trouble.

Well, now you for sure talk about sex if you didn’t give him lots of space to talk and ask questions!

Teens will have sex if they are going to, whether you give them the opportunity or not. Your vacation house wasn’t the cause. But sleeping in a bed together actually is a far cry from having sex, so I wouldn’t assume anything. But you should have a talk.

Have you talked explicitly about consent? About birth control? STIs? Porn? Mutuality and girl’s pleasure being as important as they boys? If not...now is the time.

Troll? Hard to believe anyone would be so naive. At any rate, Do the same thing you would have done anyways. Answer the questions, talk about healthy relationships and consent. Discourage sex too early but acknowledge that it might happen and make sure hes prepared with information to stay as safe as possible.

It could be completely innocent- like they were watching a movie and fell asleep.

But I would definitely have the sex/ consent etc talk and monitor more closely.

Yes, you fully messed up allowing 15 year old boys and girls to sleep together in the same room.

Now it’s time to talk directly, as adults about sec, respecting your home, having sex with others in the room and birth control.

Also, age of consent!!!! Tell them sex at their age could be considered a crime.

Meh. We all mess up.

Jesus no it’s not. Chill out.

Two 15 year olds can and do legally have sex.

I'm wondering about this too. It's hard for me to believe that someone could raise a child from birth to age 15 and not realize that it is not a good idea for boys and girls sleeping in the same room. I find it hard to believe anyone could be that naive. But I guess anything is possible???

^^ And OP knew her son and this girl liked each other. And she still allowed them to spend the night in the same room together. This has to be a fake post.

Ask directly if they had sex. She may need plan B, also inform her parents.

Ha. Yeah. What prude would ask if they had sex then tell the other mom. Moronic.

What? It’s far more “moronic” to deal with an unwanted teen pregnancy.
