My mom says it’s wrong that we are not take DD to MLB game

Anonymous
Taking my baseball loving 6yr old to a MLB game next sat, and decided to get a sitter for my 3yr old. I just don’t think she is old enough to sit through it, and would be ready to leave after 30mins or just want to run around the whole time. I absolutely plan on taking her when she is older. My mom says it’s not fair we are leaving her at home, because plenty of people take their 3yr olds to baseball games. Am I being unfair to my DD?

Nope.

No, you’re being very smart.

Well, this isn’t her child so she needs to STFU.

It’s not like you’re saying girls don’t like baseball. You recognize it won’t be appropriate for current attention span.

This can’t be the first time your mom has made a ridiculous comment about what you’re doing with your kids. Why would this time be any different?

Trust yourself, OP. There’s no need to get affirmation here. Raise your kids.

No. Might be another story if we’re talking about a 6YO DD and 9YO DS.

This. Even the best behaved 3 yo will ruin a game. It’s just too long to sit still and not annoy everyone

I barely have patience for more than 5 innings of baseball. No way either of my kids would have better than that at 3yo.

Does your mom often make her opinions on your parenting known to you?

My (well behaved) 4 year old still can’t sit thru more than a few innings without complaining/wanting to go to the kid area. Unless you have a young kid who’s really, really into baseball (I have a friend w a 4 year old son who’s obsessed, knows most players names, watch games on tv at home, etc) but that’s the only kid I know of who would actually enjoy it.

Your mom is being silly. Ignore.

You could not pay me to take my 3YO to a baseball game...

Also, am I the only one who has visions of a toddler falling down those steep concrete stadium steps?

Took my oldest child, 7, to opening day; left younger 2 (3 & 1) with family. It was rough enough for the oldest, who likes baseball and sitting through stuff.

We do take the younger kids when we get free tickets and don't care how long we stay. The younger kids are there exclusively for the food.

I would worry about a ball to the head. No.

Is your mother typically grumpy? Is she getting old?
