I’ve searched multiple threads and may have overlooked the answer to my question but I would like to know how to schedule daily activities for my children?
I was raised by a free spirited mom so schedules were not enforced she only required that I read and work extra math problems so my grades were stellar but I suffered in other areas. For example, I am constantly late, procrastinate, and lack consistency. As an adult I’ve come to see the importance of routine but have a hard time making choices, and establishing and enforcing routines (e.g., wake up time, workout, study, etc...) I don’t want my kids to experience the same issues that I am constantly working hard to overcome. I have read a few books on the subject. I would appreciate schedule and book recommendations. Please no judgment. I understand this is something I should know by now...I am a work in progress. Thank you for any helpful advice! |
A morning list and an evening list (with pictures if they don't read yet). This helps them develop some simple routines.

Nice thread Op. same situation as a dad here. I earn a lot more than average. But being organized and developing routines skills never came to me as priorities. I wish the same does not happen to my child. I have bought an extra copy of a school planner to plan activities starting this year. |
Write down your routine and post it in your room, your kids room, and n the fridge. We use Alexa to announce reminders and for alarms. DS is good with his morning routine now but we still have a alarm go off at 8:00 to remind him to go to the bathroom for school. |
Thanks all. I’ve developed a few charts with pictures based on ideas from Pinterest and places multiple a copy in the bedrooms, kitchen, and bathroom. I will also enlist the help from Alexa. First day using the charts and we made it out the door by 7:35, the goal is 7:30, and we typically leave at 7:50. I say today was close to a win. Have to go it’s time for dinner. ![]() |
