Looking for a lovely jr high school and high school in a neighborhood that is beautiful and friendly. I’d like enough room for the kids to really run around—large plots of land and a 3,000 square foot house at an affordable price. Basically, what everyone wants! The problem is I don’t know Annapolis at all! Please help me!
|
| What do you consider to be an affordable price? |
| There are no lovely middle schools. Middle school sucks for everyone. Change your expectations. |
| Severna Park or South River depending on your budget. Crofton High is new but could also work. |
|
(Not everyone wants a 3,000 sf house.)
What do you mean by "in Annapolis"? |
| Annapolis MS and Bates MS are both awful. If you can live in Severna Park or Broadneck school districts you will love it |
| Do you prefer public or private schools? |
Well, the OP posted this question in the MD Public Schools forum. |
| My husband grew up in Arnold, MD outside of Annapolis and went to Broadneck HS. He and his friends have fond memories of those days and all have successful jobs. |

Severna Park And Broadneck are the two high schools most highly regarded in the Annapolis area.
That’s a pretty huge house for those areas though, except for the houses on the water. What’s your price range? Annapolis Middle has the IB magnet program and Bates Middle has the Performjng and Visual arts magnet. I’ve heard great things about PVA at Bates and pretty good but inconsistent things about IB at Annapolis. PVA is a lottery to get into whole IB at Annapolis is a whole-school program with magnet kids from out of bounds lotterying in. Your descriptions about what you want aren’t really helpful though, so if you can be more detailed and less flowery, we may be able to give you real advice. |
*cries* Bates was such a good school back in the day. |
Word! OP seems so provincial it's sad. OP, you should get out more before speaking about 'what everyone wants'. |
