How about a one-hour "censorship" free period?

Anonymous
What about trying out a one-hour time-slot in which you don't censor posts from Republicans? (Nothing cute like 2 a.m. - 3 a.m.) Naturally, you would still delete posts with forbidden words (f, n, c, whatever else), but posts that make valid points that refute the liberal position would be allowed to remain. The forum is becoming uninteresting when one point of view is cheered on and the other is actively suppressed. Even you have admitted that there's no "free speech" in a private liberal forum, but maybe....for just one hour during normal "awake" hours.....you could test out a more balanced treatment?

Or, alternatively, if you didn't want to allow Republicans completely free reign, what about marking certain threads as "open" to indicate that conservative or opposing posts will be allowed to stay up? Then you could compare the "open" threads to the "closed" threads and see which ones generate more interest in the form of traffic. You could run the test for a week, and then if you didn't like the results, go back to deleting Republican posts.

Oh please. Posts that are couched in reality stay up.

Or you could start your own message board.

That's not true at all.

I think you could use that hour better by reading.

I have no interest in doing that. I just see that Jeff is testing out a "named" political forum (for what purpose, I do not know), so I thought he might want to test out a more balanced approach. Perhaps it would drive traffic and actually increase his income.

I like the idea of the A-B split: have two identical topics, one in which Republican posts are deleted with abandon (as happens frequently), and the other that allows Republicans free speech (excluding overt forbidden words), and see which thread gets more traffic. Run it for a one day.

I would use it for reading - reading Repubicans' opinions about various topics.

One example of a true statement that Jeff took down.

Then, don’t complain. I don’t agree with every decision he makes, but I recognize that it’s his message board, so he can do what he wants. Hopefully you’ll understand that at some point as well.

Oh, please....there are hundreds. I haven't stored them before he takes them down.

But as an example, liberals were decrying how it was the "breaking point" to see that Trump is putting children in cages. I pointed out that Obama put them in cages in 2014, and liberals didn't consider Obama's action a breaking point. It was deleted.

I offered a couple of solutions to an ongoing problem - that Republicans are censored too heavily. Are Republicans not even allowed to make suggestions?

Are you sure you're not confusing the mere presence of children in cages with children torn from their adult caregivers in cages? Because Obama didn't do the latter, as far as I know.

Just thought of another example: there was a thread about liberals marching through a neighborhood at night, cursing about borders. Jeff decided it never happened and deleted the thread.

Anyway, I'm not going to discuss this with liberals anymore. I know you all like the idea of Republicans being silenced. I will wait to hear if Jeff is open to the A-B test or the "open hour" suggestions.

This is a great example. Someone starts a thread discussing the importance of an action Trump has taken. The immediate response from the right is whataboutism. I actually think that if I allowed the one-hour period that you suggest, none of you would post because 90% of your posts are whatabout responses to threads which with you disagree. If you don't havre posts to whatabout, I am not sure you will have anything to say.

Moreover, the difference between what Obama did and what Trump is doing is significant and has been repeatedly explained. If you have not understood this difference yet, you never will. So why should I allow a thread to go off-topic into a discussion of Obama when you will not change your mind no matter what? The right-wing tactic here is primarily to disrupt. The idea that you are posting great rebuttals that make liberals look bad is a myth that exists only in right-wing minds. Mostly what you guys do is divert and hijack. One the few occasions you actually post something that is not a whataboutism, it is likely to be racist and bigoted.
