What to do
Where should I stay Is it a one day thing? |
I hate sesame place especially this time of year when the kids have returned to school. They have no employees. The bathrooms are scary, the food is gross and overpriced.
The park is okay if you live nearby. It's in the back of a strip mall. The first time I went, we made a weekend out of it. I wish i had just made a day trip. I went for a daytrip last summer and thought that was appropriate. Check out trip advisor for feedback. |
There are many water features, so it's ideal to go when they will all be on (not sure when they close the water park part for the season). I think one ticket is actually good from 4pm the day before until closing the next day.
We drove up during the day and went straight to the park for a few hours. Stayed at a nearby Air BNB and then went to the park all the next day. Drove home that night. The drive home was pretty draining for us, and yes, the food is pretty gross. But my little Elmo lovers loved it. |
If you are going after Labor Day, yes, it is a one day trip since the water park will be closed. There are plenty of hotels nearby. There are some within walking distance. And yes, the food is horrible amusement park food. |
We did it in one day. DS was 4. He LOVED it. He didn't like water at the time so we didn't do any of the water rides. There was plenty other stuff to do for the day. The food was horrible, but oh well.
We found a yummy italian restaurant outside of the park afterwards which was nice after a day with kids. |
This place is horrible. Too small and all the employees are RUDE RUDE RUDE!!! If you live close by, sure do it, if not save yourself the hassle and goto kings dominion or something. |
Go to Dutch Wonderland or Hershey instead. |
We did one day with our 2.5 year old, and he loved it. We went on opening day before the water rides were open and it really wasn't that crowded. The staff was fine, though as others have said, the food is horrible (and they were not great at letting me know what food had allergens for my son, even though we filled out a form that asked about his allergies when we booked "Lunch with Elmo"). We stayed at the SpringHill Suites right across the street (you can walk into Sesame Place from there). All in all, really not that expensive. |
Agree with PPs. From a grown up POV, it is a dirty off-brand Disney with horrible food and questionable safety. But my 4 yr old keeps begging to go back.
It ends up most cost effective to stay at one of the partner hotels. You don’t have to drive/pay for parking and you get extra time in the park with a partner hotel key. Your kid is going to want to do the parade so you are not getting out of there early... We drove up, checked in early, took hotel shuttle to park. Stayed til close. Next am - keep hotel key and take shuttle to park - you get 30 min with no one there. Leave after lunch. |
