I think people are upset with Peter because he has gone on the air and blatantly LIED about why Danni isn't on the show right now. He could've said "we just can't talk about it right now," but instead he fed listeners a line about how Danni was "so busy." Plus, this whole situation is reminiscent of Mel's exit from the show, and we know that the show wasn't very truthful about that (telling her she could tape a goodbye with their chosen excuse, and when she wouldn't use their excuse, just plain not letting her say goodbye). |
Sarah is in low 30's, that is considered old? Have you watched the news in the DC area for the last 5 years? There are people well into the 50's on there. Sarah is on FOX on a weekly basis, and has been since season 1 of Glee started. I don't think anyone would consider her "not pretty enough". Again, I really wish demographic ratings were public. I think Kane has dropped a lot in the last year, but no one would know for certain unless an insider decides to post specifics on here. Regarding DC radio, Sports Junkies fill 4 hours, but their format is different because they rely on a specific topic (sports) and can get interviews on most segments. Tommy McFly records a lot of calls and sprinkles them throughout the show but only discusses one topic per show. I do not listen to Elliott (DC101 for those not from DC) but I have heard his laugh is annoying but he is a very good interviewer. I don't think Loo and Chili (97.1) talk about much. I can't speak to 93.9 or 95.5. What STM tried to do was have intelligent topics. I remember on Sarah's podcast that Samy wanted to go to Baltimore for the riots and the program director wouldn't let him because he felt that the audience wasn't smart enough to care. Radio is very closed minded, in my opinion, and the listening audience wants different things, but there should be a variety to chose from. The reality is Kane had chemistry, but since it appears he got a big head, he lost what was there, and now is collecting a paycheck while his life is in shambles. I still think he needs to get off the air and work on himself, because this divorce is more tolling than he realizes. |
I agree. I know I'm in the minority but I feel for the guy. |
I don't understand why Kane hasn't been updating his fb and Instagram. Isn't that part of his job? Or promote the show? Ij and rose have posted stuff, all I can think of is that he may not want people to comment. |
Peter can't be the only one with admin access to the show's FB. It shows pure laziness that it hasn't been updated in almost a month, granted we're going to be flooding it w/ Danni-related comments, but every one of his affiliates still updates their page on the daily. |
Whether you like Danni or not, the way they've handled her departure is fucking horrible. I stopped listening to Kane's shit show ages ago when I moved to Chicago and only found out about this via DCRTV's post awhile back.... I hope for the best in her situation. |
+1 Between this and the handling of the divorce dirty laundry on air, I completely agree. |
Supposedly IJ was talking to someone named "Brooke" and she may be joining the show? Not sure if it is true.... |
That was covered all ready, check part 2. Brooke AKA 'Peanut Butter' left her radio show to go be a part of another which she couldn't say yet because there were still issues being worked on. People thought those issues were Danni and People speculated she could be coming to the Kane Show. This was further thought when IJ told her congrats on twitter. I wouldn't like her to be on the show since her southern accent will definitely clash with everyone and people in D.C will def not listen to it. |
Can you imagine how creepy it would be if Brooke joined the show? Kane would be all over her because he "loves accents" (especially southern) |
+1 to both of you Both situations have been a PR nightmare. |
The only way Kane gets fired is if he does something or says something iHeart doesn't think he can recover from. His show is to popular and in too many markets for iHeart to dump him over this or his terrible past family meetings. His show also airs in a lot of money making markets. I believe his show is in at least ten markets (DC, Baltimore, Tampa, Memphis, Louisville, Cincinnati, Harrisburg, Las Vegas, Peoria, Concord) there could be more be these are the ones I know for sure. Five of these markets are in the top 40 (DC, Baltimore, Tampa, Cincinnati, Las Vegas). Three are in the top 25 (DC #7, Tampa #19, Baltimore #21). Considering that in his home market (DC) he has the only true Top 40 formatted show, why would they can him. He has very little competition in most of his markets. Everybody is replaceable on this show except him. He makes them a lot of money regardless of who his co-hosts are and what current opinion about him may be. Although I could see Kane making a Russ Parr (DC morning show host) type move and going to WASH-FM (also a DC owned station by iHeartMedia) in a few years. WASH-FM targets the 25-49 demo where Kane's current target is 18-34. Overall I think iHeart looks at this 8 month span of time as a small blip in the bigger picture. |
Great summary and stats! Thanks for taking time to construct a thoughtful post! I completely agree with you on all points. |
I would feel some compassion for him if he had felt any for the mother of his children. Regardless on what went down, putting her on blast the way he did (and timeline wise a lot has been proven incorrect or misleading) using his platform to do that and then weakly say "but leave her alone guys" is pure cowardice and nasty. She got death threats. People absolutely hated her. Say what you want about the people posting in this forum but I'm pretty sure some of the crazy TKS fanatics would go so far as to following through on some what they say in the comment section- they feel THAT connected to him. |
