Our DCPS PK4 did a half day on Tuesday for half the alphabet, Wednesday for the other half, then a half day today and tomorrow for everyone. I can’t say I love that, personally my child was more confused than anything coming from a full time daycare situation and I think it made the transition worse.

How are working parents supposed to deal with this situation? If by using aftercare, how does that aid in transition?

Why would they do this? I cant see how that helps anyone.

Our charter had 3 days of halfdays for preK-K kids. It sucked and there was a lot of grumbling from parents. No aftercare those days either!

If they’re new to the school and/or didn’t get into pre-k ... Yes.
