My neighbor has gone through some dogs now.

They get a dog. The dog seems fine. And then something happens and the dog barks at everyone.

The first dog, it was the breed of the dog. The gave up the dog and got another one.
The second dog, it was the sex of the dog and it was a boy, so they got a girl and gave up the boy.
Then the girl dog became a problem and they decided they would get a puppy-- that it was the previous owner's fault again.
Now, they are thinking it's the breed of dog.

And I'm like: do I say something? Or could people really go through three dogs this way?

Are they dumping the dogs in a shelter?

This is sad. They should not have dogs if they won't train them.

More details would help, OP, but yes, it looks as though they haven't understood they need to put in the work.

You could helpfully give them a paid class with a trainer for their new puppy. Or a training/puppy raising book. The dogs are probably fine dogs, but it seems that your neighbor needs some training.

Where are the dogs going? I know some rescue groups let you return a dog if it is not a good fit but I would assume they would be be unlikely to keep giving you dogs.

Your neighbors probably give off some apprehensive energy that is making the dogs feel that they need to be protective. It’s rarely ever the dog that is the real problem.

Are they returned or do they just “disappear”?

We had neighbors put a dog down rather than pay for medication for its chronic condition. It was a puppy so it was quite sad. But I don't think as neighbors we can really do anything.

I would call local shelters and rescue organizations and tip them off so these people can't get more dogs

Maybe they couldn't afford the medication. I just paid $3000 for a terminal diagnosis for my dog--and still we dont' know precisely what it is, just that she's going to die. To find out what it is would be thousands more, but pointless. Vet care can be exhorbitantly expense is my point.

OP here. I know one of them was returned to the shelter, but I have been MYOB about it and don't know where the others went.

I don't think I'm gonna say anything, but these dogs are so aggressive after a few months with them and that makes me nervous. But then the dog always "disappears" and a new dogs shows up-- a sweet dog that turns into a snarling mess after a few months. It's kinda crazy but it makes me really nervous as to what is going on with these dogs.

Alert all shelters and a few rescue organizations. Word will get around. Please.
