Lee Montessori -- Teachers

Anonymous
Calling on the hivemind for some info. I'm looking for some insight into the teachers in the lower grades at Lee Montessori.

I have a PK-4 and a 1st Grader who are likely to receive offers from Lee in the coming week. We'd be arriving from Shining Stars, where we've had amazing teachers ("guides") but have been saddled with a real dumpster fire of an administration. Our philosophy thus far has been that we don't care about what's going on outside the classroom, as long as our children have good teachers. This approach seems to have worked for a few years, but isn't really sustainable. Good teachers have been leaving SSMA left and right, so we're not feeling very secure right now.

It would be amazing if anyone could share specific details about PK-4 and 1st grade teachers at Lee, including anyone we should request, anyone to avoid, any recent departures, etc...

Thanks!

Lee upper and lower el teachers are amazing and have a lot of experience. The fourth Lower El classroom is smaller and is being opened by a guide who team taught one of the other lower els last year. The Upper El class is co-taught by two guides who also are lovely and have tons of experience. No complaints from this Lee elementary Mom.

Primary guides all great-- I'm assuming if you are filling in spots, they will have you assigned to a class already.

Omg, go, for sure!

Yes, go. Families stray a lot longer at Lee than SSMA, so they'll be more stability there. Many of the guides are eeither new or taking on their own class after serving as an assistant in a class. This has to do with the expansion and previous guides moving to the new school or to other roles. But in the school has a great track record hiring stong guides, so I wouldn't worry about that.

We're an SSMA to Lee family (been at Lee one year now) and have been thrilled! While I agree that primary guides at SSMA are fantastic, we've been happy with our primary guide at Lee and our 2nd grader had a great lower el teacher last year. Also, I found that the functional administration makes a huge difference. Come join us!
