Nursery chair recommendation for TALL parents?

Anonymous
Hi,

I am looking for a nursery chair that has a tall enough back so that my head - and ideally my husband's - is supported. I am 5'9" and he is 6'2". Although I prefer a rocker, it seems like almost all styles of nursery chairs have short backs, and I really just need it to be comfortable. Where can I find one?

Thank you!

My DH and I are the same height as you, so I completely understand the request. While not the fanciest chair, we went with the IKEA Poang. First, it's cheap. Second, great height so you can rest your head back. I bought the ottoman too, so it could be a little comfier for late nights. It's a little deep, so a bit harder to always get up -- harder for grandparents than for me. And the cover is washable and replaceable which is nice after all the spit up that happens.

We are the same height (husband is actually a little taller) and got a glider/recliner we love from Pottery Barn kids. It was expensive but like you, we had trouble finding options that worked. I can’t remember the name of it though but I can remember our second choice was the wingback rocker.

hi! we had the same problem (i am 5'11" husband is 6'6") and we ended up going with the Detuiller Glider (ottoman included). It was a bit pricey in my mind but SO WORTH IT! it's so comfortable, and has a taller back than all the other ones we tried. It was around $500 from Buy Buy Baby, and we waited until we had a 20% off coupon to use (they give you so many if you just give them an email)

We’re the same heights and we got a chair from Room and Board with a gliding ottoman. It’s ok, but my husband can’t lay his head back.

What we really used a lot for both kids was a futon couch. I had it in each kids’s Room until I weaned them close to age 2. I would nurse on the futon - but also had a place to sleep when the baby just wanted me close. Get one with an arm rest. Also to be clear - baby sleeps in crib, you can lay down on the futon. Never cosleep with a baby on a couch or futon.
