Eckington couple crafts a D.C. map on their shower wall out of 10,000 pennies. RTd by the Mayor.

I love it. I hate pennies, this is one of the only ways they should be used.

I'm sure someone will be along shortly to break in and steal it.

But, is that legal?

vague recollection about cementing currency in some statue somewhere. Then again, they have those souvenir machines that destroy pennies, so probably not.

I've lived in DC for over 25 years, and I can see that there is a marked uptick in hometown pride in the past decade or so. It's a new thing to see teenagers wearing DC flag t-shirts, cars with DC bumper stickers or even houses with DC flags.

Back in the old days DC was synonymous with the DC government, and nobody wanted anything to do with that!

Fair. Our logo is pretty cool and translates well. I think it's part of the statehood movement too, though I like DC as it is (not a state). Its unique. I wonder if that shower has that wet penny smell?

Maybe among your peer group (hint hint Karen).

Very impressive!

That is really cool. I love that she was inspired by her love of kayaking around here and wanted to emphasize the connection between the shower and the DC waterways.
