| What’s the most academically rigorous homeschool curriculum? It can be secular or religious |
|
I would say the recommendations outlined in Susan Wose Bauer’s book The Well Trained Mind are fairly rigorous for the humanities. Mathematics I would choose Singapore Math and something for facts. For science I would say Building Foundations of Scientific Understanding. Foreign language- I would go with Memoria Press Latin.
Regrettably there is no all in one box curriculum that is “the most rigorous” - you really need to pick and choose among the providers to find the right thing for each subject. And then schedule it all yourself. |
Agree. We followed Susan Wise Bauser's recommendations for Language Arts and History. Singapore Math and Beast Academy for English. Changed every year for science. Once my child was a little older he also took classes through Well-Trained Mind Academy. Wonderful and very demanding. |
| sorry, that was Singapore Math and Beast Academy for Math. |
| Rigor won’t look the same for every kid every single day. You may have to scale up or down to stay in that zone of proximal development. One reason teaching is so challenging. |
| CTY IS THE BEST THING EVER EVER GO TO THE CAMPS YOUR KIDS WILL LOVE IT I CTY CTY AND YAY DO THE COURSES AND CAMPS AND CTY! |
| CTY is way too expensive. |
| Starting in MS Davidson or Stanford OHS. |

Abeka is rigorous is early Math. Later Saxon Math would be most rigorous.
I also like the Mennonite English and Math curriculum Rod and Staff. Their grammar instruction is amazing and easy to follow. And their prices are great too. |
Stanford OHS is definitely rigorous... |
But not a homeschool curriculum. It's an online school. |

OP - Go to the forums at https://forums.welltrainedmind.com
You will find many parents who are dedicated to providing a rigorous education and there are descriptions/reviews of everything. I think all of the suggestions above have been good, except I would only use Abeka for handwriting and grammar, not other subjects. |
| Has anyone used Seton Home Study Program? Catholic based. |
