I know there are some other posts on this, but I am interested in opinions on getting a CARES harness for a 15 month old traveling with me (alone).
It is a 2 hour flight, and the other option, of course, is to carry the car seat through the airport. However, my mother has a Britax for him at our destination, so would only really be needing to use the car seat for the plane ride. I read on Amazon reviews that little ones slip down in the CARES harness and that the belt is uncomfortable behind their heads. I was wondering if anyone had any troubleshooting ideas for this, or if people think that it's best just to bring the car seat even though I won't need it at the destination. I have only flown with the smaller Graco infant seat, not a larger Britax (roundabout). DS is not likely to sleep on the flight, but I guess you never know. Thanks! |
| I don't remember the exact age that we started using the harness, but DS couldn't have been that much older than 15 months. Isn't there a minimum height or weight requirement for them? DS is top of the charts for both, and physically strong/advanced, so that made it easier. |
| I have a 16-month-old and we have used the CARES harness twice, starting when she was about 12 months. We like it. She doesn't love it, but she tolerates it and I don't know that she would like her car seat on the plane any better (she fusses because she wants to be on my lap so she can stare at all the passengers). We use it because we also always have a car seat at our destination and it is far easier to pack than one more big bulky thing. I recommend it. |
| OP here. Thanks for the comments. I'm going to give it a shot! |
