my hair is wavy and fine and just sort of hangs there, whether longish or shortish. i've had cuts from very good, very expensive stylists too! there's just not much one can do with it.
anyway, i thought a chin-length bob with bangs might liven things up. it's a bolder look. something besides hair just hanging from my head. but i know it is both a common style and perceived hipster style. i'm 35 and not a hipster. what say y'all? |
| I say it'll look nice. Change is always refreshing to me. I just went with a bob after long hair and I get tons of compliments. My husband says I should never go back to the old hair. I never realized how ugly everyone thought I was until I went with the bob. I think the bangs will look nice too. |

if you have an older looking face, perhaps it could work. if you look young though, this won't help.
but i also don't know whether a shorter length would work well if your hair is wavy. i'm assuming you want the anna wintour kind of bob though. i'm surprised that nothing woudl help liven up the hair. i would think long layers would work well. |
| What shape is your face? |
| I think there are certain classic haircuts that are always in style. The chin length bob with bangs is one of them, as long as it's not too severe or boxy. |
Agreed Go for it!! |

my experience with bangs in my 30s: about a year and a half ago I had bangs cut (although not a bob). What I found was that I needed to wear significant eye makeup to look sophisticated instead of teeny bopper. It did get me in the habit of eyeliner and mascara every workday, which I have continued, but I just didn't have the patience for it on the weekends. Plus, I have trouble with raccoon eyes, so it was not ideal.
I never would have thought my haircut would require different (or more) makeup, but it is something to think about. |
Totally agree with this. |
| Bobs work with almost any face and have been around forever. Everyone here wears a bob - whatever you can do to look different should be done. A thick frame of bangs going all the way across is the biggest hair trend this year. |

I am the one who asked about the shape of your face. If your face is round shaped, please do not make the mistake I did. My round face looked MUCH fatter than it really is with a bob and I nearly threw up every time I looked at myself until it grew out. As far as it being in style, it absolutely is, and sometimes I have dreams of myself in a bob, but I know it just isn't possible.
Also, consider getting highlights. They can really liven things up. |

A round face can still wear a bob by making the length a bit longer.
Bobs look classic and great on almost all women. They are especially great for thin/fine hair. |
| Have you seen the latest pics of Nicole Richie? Bobbed and banged - the next big wave of hairstyles. Look at Mischa Barton. |
