Prometrium question

Anonymous
My RE's office just called. One week after IUI#1 (no meds) my progesterone is 7.2, which is low. They've called in a scrip for prometrium. Anyone have any experience with prometrium or with a progesterone supplement? Anything I should expect - side effects, etc? Advice appreciated!

Also taking vaginally twice a day after IUI. I really hate it. I get pregnancy type symptoms (headache, cramps) when on it so besides being uncomfortable, it plays with your mind. But everyone is different so hopefully your side effects will be minimal. I wear a panty liner since will leak out a bit. Also may delay your period.

There was a thread on this earlier this year: http://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/48080.page#332042

Good luck!

i hated prometrium. have taken it vaginally and orally. orally it made me tired, and i was scared i wasn't getting enough of the supplement. vaginally - i had a constant yeast infection EVERY time i used it. i think i must have been allergic. i am taking endometrin now, and it is much better - no infections, and it has an applicator...would recommend this way over the prometrium anyday....
oh and yes all progesterone always gives me preganancy symptoms...

Gross discharge, pregnancy symptoms (bloating, cramping, sore breasts, headaches), ichy butt. But you'll get use to it.

I had the same symptoms plus really really tired to the point I had to close my office door and take a nap at my desk for 20 mins.

I had the same symptoms as above -- fatigue, moodiness, weight gain, etc. But it was much better the second cycle -- maybe my body developed a tolerance? They still leaked though...

Prometrium gave me a yeast infection too. Endometrian is way better and way less messy.
