Bent license plate

Anonymous
The other night, someone backed into the front of my car, and dented the license plate to the point where the license plate can no longer lay flat on the front holder. After calling the dealership, they said they can't do anything to a license plate, and I have to go to the DMV to get replacement plates? Is there an easy home remedy to "flatten" out the plate?

Wow. Take it off and step on it. However if you had to call the dealership about this then you're likely not capable of handling this simple fix. My best advice is to surrender your license to the closest authority ASAP.

The DMV will sell you new plates.

I'll fix this for you for $250

Go online to the DMV and request replacement plates.

This. In MD it's $20 as I recall. Had to do it a few months ago.

Do you have a screwdriver and a pair of pliers? Take the plate off and bend it flat again, reinstall.

If you can't, I'll beat the other guy's offer and do it for you for $199.

You called the dealership for a bent license plate???

I get it. It’s embarrassing because people will get the wrong impression that you’re a bad driver. If it bothers you, go to the DMV and ask. Or call. Or electronically mail them.

leave the plate on the car. and just hit the plate with a hammer enough times to flatten it out..

I am happily driving around with my bent license plate, but if I had to do it, I'd take it out and flatten it back into shape between two sheets of plywood and bricks.

How do some people make it this far in life and not know the simplest things? Take the damn license plate off. Step on it or hammer it straight. I doubt you actually need a replacement.

I did this yesterday and replaced my front license plate bracket and get this - I bent the plate back into shape with my own two hands, like magic. So I'll do it for $195 and I have real world experience.

I will do it for $189.99!

I've bent my plate back into shape many times. I'm a great driver and terrible parker, before anyone asks
