We’ll be staying near Central Park so will explore that, the zoo, the Carousel, but is there anything beyond playgrounds and parks that would be good for those ages? I’m concerned most museums might be too old for them. |
American Museum of Natural History is great! The 6yo will love the rose center for earth and space.
Brooklyn Bridge park + Jane’s carousel, transit museum in Brooklyn. |
Children museum on the upper West Side and Children art museum in TriBeCa. Imagination playground near Seaport - make sure it’s fully open, they have very cool huge building blocks that are not always available. |

Bronx Zoo Armor at MET |
Our almost 6 yo had a fabulous time at the Ninja New York restaurant. I've also heard good reports from friends. Very fun.
We also enjoyed the Museum of Mathematics and visiting the top of the WTC. |
The museum of mathematics is awesome! Very interactive. |
My kids are nearly those ages and I agree with all the suggestions above. Some others:
- Statue of Liberty cruise/boat ride - Paddle boats in Central Park - NY Hall of Science in Queens - Try to get into Black Tap for lunch (burgers and fancy milkshakes) - Color Factory pop up in Soho (has a ball pit) - Walk the Brooklyn Bridge and have lunch on the Brooklyn side at one of the famous pizza places (Juliana’s, Grimaldi’s) Will you have a car? If so, Liberty Science Center in NJ is super cool. Bronx Zoo good for all ages and Brooklyn or Bronx botanical gardens. |
There’s a children’s art museum is west village. Our kids never wanted to leave |
