Your favorite chocolate cake recipe

When I was growing up, my southern-cooking mother made a delicious chocolate fudge cake around the holidays. I'm looking for a similar recipe, but perhaps free of Crisco, if you know what I mean. I want something rich that would be perfect with some toasted pecans on top. Anyone have a favorite recipe? Thanks!

maybe you should try a flourless chocolate cake. it sounds like you want something dense.

for a regular chocolate cake, i like the hershey's recipe.

My absolute favorite is Tyler Florence's Gooey, Decadent Chocolate Cake I am in the midst of making it right now! I have made it 2 or 3 times before. A winner.
