| Familiar w the offerings at Hopkins, Duke, and Northwestern. Wondering if any other colleges offer summer enrichment programs that people have had a good experience with? Particularly interested in STEM but open to other disciplines too |

WM Institute for Early American History and Democracy was excellent. US history, obviously. Rising 11th and 12th. Kids get 4 hours of 200 level history credit.
UVA SEP through rising 11th. Lots of choices in different disciplines. Much less expensive than most other options. |

There are many, many, many college summer programs. Just search for the names of colleges you are interested in and "pre-college."
My rising Junior DS did a week at Georgetown the summer in their Summer Program for High School students: https://summer.georgetown.edu/ It was a very challenging program and his only complaint was that there wasn't really any free time to go off campus because he was in class or working on a group project most of the time. He liked staying in the dorm and did what I hoped -- got him thinking ahead more about what he'd like when he chooses colleges to apply to. |

Virginia offers a variety of summer programs at public universities, called "Summer Residential Governor’s Schools," that are much more affordable than private college programs.

CTY has programs at several schools.
There are STEM programs at Boulder and Austin. |
| UMD and Stanford have good programs. |
My DD really, really wanted to do the medical program at Georgetown but it’s so expensive!! And they don’t offer scholarships! Is it worth it? Or is there another comparable program? |

MSU Physics of Atomic Nuclei
Texas Tech Canada USA Math Camp TASP YYGS Selective not “whoever can pay” programs. CC and The Art of Problem solving list several others. |

It depends on the students interests what summer enrichment would be most rewarding an experience. For instance, this program seems great for a physics interested kid - https://uwaterloo.us7.list-manage.com/track/click?u=88e2f2b6c4505da990964a890&id=d002683cf5&e=9263caf039

Yes, it was really expensive. However, we did it because DS really wanted to do something in data science and I was only able to find two options -- Georgetown and U of Connecticut. UC was cheaper but the timing was really difficult for us and then we'd have to add in travel expenses too. I didn't mind spending more for the close location and much better week. Also, we haven't spent anything on him for summer camps in several years because he prefers to volunteer while DD goes to sleepaway camp every summer so it felt "fair" to let him do this. I don't think I'd do it for a medical program, there are plenty of programs that offer medical-related classes that are not as expensive. |
| My niece did a program at Johns Hopkins last summer that she loved - it was medical related, if I recall. |
| Governor's residential summer programs (Gov School) for Virginia Residents. |
