| So, I really want to lose inches -- inches from the belly area mostly. Tips, anyone? And am I supposed to be measuring myself with one of those measuring tapes? |

Read one of the great books by Dr Pamela Peeke. Generally, moderate your bad carb intake, eat most of your calories before 5pm and incorporate some weight training to really burn fat.
Very common sense suggestions, but she explains why they are so important and gives great motivation. Good luck! |
| Thanks. I've heard many times how to lose weight, but not specifically how to lose inches. I'll look into the book. |

a combination of a balanced diet, aerobic activity and weights
That's the only way. You'll lose your fat through aerobics and eating well and gain lean muscle mass (= loss of inches) by using weights. Plus, the more lean muscle mass you have, the higher your metabolism. |
| don't eat out. I always loose weight when i don't eat out- and I eat well at home burgers, meat, rice etc. but i control the extra hidden fat and calories. If I make my own lunch it really helps even if a good lunch. |
| Pilates. The real deal, in a Pilates studio, on the equipment, not a mat based, or Pilates based exercise program. I lost 4 inches off my waist in about a month. I can recommend a good place if you're in NoVa. |
| Not OP but also need to lose inches. I would love to get the name of the Pilates studio in NoVA. Thanks! |
| I do pilates off and on. Each time I have started, people come up within a week and say "did you lose weight"? So you may wisht to cut calories, but the tightening (inches lost) for me has been pretty dramatic. |
