I’m having some postpartum anxiety and I’d like to try therapy. Does anyone have recommendations in dc area? I’d prefer to not do medication and I’m willing to pay and not go through insurance.
Are you in DC?
Benta Sims (http://www.bentasimslpc.com/) She’s In Falls Church and is really wonderful.
Donna Schwartz in Foggy Bottom. Hang in there, OP!
Dr. Danielson at medstar Georgetown on Wisconsin Avenue
Good for you OP for seeking help! Your OB might also have a list of therapists that can help, or your primary car provider should too.

Nicole Grocki was my lifesaver, literally. Especially if you are a military spouse or are also managing partner challenges while both pre and post- partum

Dr Barbara Byers in Chevy chase specializes in reproductive psychiatry. Also don’t be too afraid of meds. They work wonders and will most likely only be used for a short period of time. Good luck

There is a list of resources and you can talk with someone immediately if you want. It's VA but I am sure they have DC partners. Good luck OP, I admire you for reaching out. |

if you cannot get into a provider as soon as you like, my sister used Doctor on Demand and 'saw" Dr. Judith Thorne. Said she had pretty quick availability.
Dr. Emma Basch - she does Skype sessions which was a life saver when I couldn't get to her office. Highly recommend!
I used Janine Donnelly -- her office is in Barrack's Row. She is amazing. I still see her for non-PPD issues. I honestly do not want to think of where my life would be if I had not gone to see her. She takes BCBS if you decide to use insurance.
NP ... I am going to a therapist that does not take insurance, and got very excited to see there is a good one that takes insurance, just nested to pass along that it looks like she’s not taking new patients right now. |
