Almost 9 year old Dog starting to display anxiety?

In the last few months our almost 9yo lab has been acting unusually nervous. Especially when going outside at night, in our completely fenced backyard. For example, she often goes out and immediately tucks her tail down under her rear, the hair on her spin raises and she acts nervous. She's also been acting a little anxious in the house - occasionally whining for no reason like something is scaring her. Other than being afraid of thunder (since she was a pup) she's never displayed this type of anxiety until recently.
She's goes to the vet regularly. Well fed, loved and no health issues. She does seem spooked by shadows in the yard lately (caused by deck lights against the fence) which makes us wonder if her eyesight is going - but she seems to see fine. Is this something some older dogs go through? Vet doesn't see anything wrong. |

| Maybe she got into a tussle with a fox or raccoon and now she is scared, or maybe she is scared of thunderstorms. My dog is and any sound resembling thunder results in a tail tuck and anxious behavior, even when nice and sunny. This goes on all summer then he relaxes during the winter. |
