| Wondering how many activities kids do these days.. |
| We will do Sunday School every week. One weeknight activity (dance is DD's choice- one night a week). And one Saturday morning class/activity (things like Soccer, Art, Gymnastics, Swimming, etc). |
| Mine just wants to have play dates and is not interested in any activities unless a friend does it with him. |
| Violin, soccer, lacrosse, swimming, Sunday school. Violin is offered at school so that's not an additional time commitment, and swimming is one lesson per week. Sunday school also obviously once a week. Soccer and lacrosse are one practice and one game per week. Too much but my DC is super into all of it. |
| Tennis. Basketball once that starts. |
| Ballet and tap (same day), tumbling, and swim |
|
At school, last year my 2nd grader did painting or yoga 1x/week in aftercare.
Outside of school, she did gymnastics team 2x/wk, violin practice 1x/wk, and Girl Scouts 2x/month. |
| Girl Scouts and ballet |
Ha, mine is like this too. But we tell ours to pick a sport, any sport. So that's 2x week of soccer. Swim lessons weekly. And one after-school activity a week. Still leaves the majority of days open for playdates. |
But what do you do with a kid who doesn’t want to do any sport? Or as a matter of fact any activity? |
I don't make him. Or her. At that age, my kid wasn't interested in anything but free play. Now at 12, he is in a basketball league and at the pool every single day.Kids do just fine without scheduled activities. |
|
Mine started Jiu Jitsu in Jan and will continue with that. We aim for twice a week but can go upto 4 times a week. Girl Scouts once a month for an hour plus sometimes an activity but that could be on a weekend.
She wants to do piano so adding that for 30 mins once a week. |
| Girl Scouts (part of after school), Tae Kwon Do (twice a week in the evening), piano lessons (one evening at home), ballet (sat morning) |
How do they know they don't want to do any sport. Have they tried every sport? I'd give them a huge range of choices: karate, gymnastics, soccer, flag football, running--even after school yoga. There's a sport for everyone. I think it's important to be part of a team and I also think it's important to exercise. |
| He does one sport per season. Fall is baseball which is one practice and one game per week. Once baseball ends, basketball starts which is also one practice and one game per week. He also goes to Sunday religious school weekly. |
