Good workout clothes for women

Anonymous
Probably a dumb question- within the last two months I’ve started going to the gym to try to lose some of the baby weight- finally. I used to work out in soffee shorts and a T-shirt, but it seems super uncomfortable- my legs chafe together the whole time, I get HOT in my T-shirt.
I don’t want to spend a ton on workout clothes until I know it’s a habit I can stick with, but was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for affordable workout clothes- links would be helpful. I do mainly treadmill and elliptical, with some strength training and yoga.
For reference I am female, and typically wear a size small- medium. I am 5’5” and weight about 130.

Old Navy, Target, TJ Maxx & Marshall's have rather good activewear for the price point. A lightweight tank top and capris tights are a good start. Good luck!

Old Navy can’t be beat for the price. It holds up well too.

It goes on sale pretty often —don’t pay full price.

Get some running shorts for the summer and leggings for the winter. Good sports bras. And tank tops.

This. Wait for a sale and stock up.

I like the high-waisted leggings for working out - the cropped length is my go-to.

I also have had good luck with TJ Maxx and Marhsall's.

I like Under Armour for shorts, shirts, and sports bras and can usually find a few options on sale on Dick's Sporting Good's website at any given time.

I like a lot of the target C9 stuff.

lululemon is my favorite but I can't afford too much of that.

Old Navy, for sure. Athleta is my splurge, but ON will get the job done for very little money.

Good luck, OP!

Y’all are the best, thank you.
Another dumb question- I’ve seen those double layered shorts- one tight layer, one loose. Most are labeled as yoga shorts. Are these ok to run in? I don’t want people to laugh at me if I’m using yoga shorts as running shorts haha.

If you splurge on anything, have it be a sports bra from Title 9.
