I have no experience buying a new car. What would happen if I went to Ourisman in Bowie and said "I will pay $18,556 for this Grand Caravan"? Would the price instantly go up because I'm not a college graduate who has been in the military and currently owns a Dodge?

Uh... what? Email a bunch of dealers, tell them the exact car and trim you want, tell them "give me your best out-the-door price," then choose the best dealer and go pick up your car. Why do people make this so hard? |
Explains it all on the link. I think you'll find that this is price they use to lure you in, and then you need to qualify for all of these things, which it is not a given. Try TrueCar or another service that lets you pick out what you want and the dealers will come to you. You'll get a few good offers and you can pick. |
I also forgot Costco, your credit union, or bank. |
| The best thing to do is to create a throw away email address and email a bunch of dealers until you get the price you want. Let them compete with each other without ever having to leave your house. |
| Costco sucked, don't mess with them. |

You are not getting the van for that price, realistically. |
