Futsal

Does your kid play?
Do they enjoy and does it benefit him/her?

What are the local DMV clubs that have good programs worth considering?

My DD had a great time playing futsal during the winter months.

Futsal completely exposes players that doesn’t have a good first touch and ball skills. The fast athletic kids that have limited ball skills will look clumsy in futsal.

depends where you live. If you’re real north Alexandria has the best Futsal academy hands!

further west you have Puma Elite academy which one every girls age in Futsal last year and thats pretty much it. Every other club is not worth mentioning

Depends on what you are looking for. Alexandria has an excellent league and a number of teams that compete within its league from inside and outside the club. They send a lot of their top futsal teams to regional and national competitions, and have won a few national championships. There are other leagues. There are other clubs and other teams (some of which are DA kids looking for off-season training and competition). If in Arlington, Fire Sports has launched a dedicated training program and is a good option - they put teams in the Alexandria league and state cups in their first year. Some of the CCL teams put together a futsal league as well. If you are in or adjacent to Alexandria, they are a logical and terrific option. They usually have courses year-round and will teach your child well.

I can not find good futsal option in Montgomery county during the summer. Too bad all good camps are outside.

Whats the consensus for developing a u-15 GK ? Is futsal or indoor better ? Or just off season Gk training ? With the goal of improving for outdoor play the target.

Futsal keeping techniques and tactics are very different than the outside game. There are always some benefits but they are played very differently.

I would say indoor gives you better benefits for a GK than futsal. but it can be a fun break from the grind of GK training. If nothing else the GK can get some verbal communication work from the futsal game and some simple reaction saves.

Futsal is awesome...fast paced and usually a ton of goals. Technical players shine on the small courts. My DS said he would play futsal year round if they had it and would even give up travel to do futsal. I see a benefit for speed of play and having to make decisions faster. St James had a league last winter, not sure how it went but would be curious if anyone participated to get some feedback.

Futsal is great. It is very easy to tell who played Futsal in the winter when the spring training session come around.

In Maryland, go to http://www.sportingmaryland.org/

In Virginia, go to https://www.pumaelite.com/page/show/3351971--futsal-academy

Puma Elite has great coaching. Gus is a former professional futsal player from Brazil.

Last year, Puma Elite teams won VA State, VA State Runner Up, Richmond Regional Champs, Philly Regional Champs.

They would have won more but were limited in how much they could play.

That Puma Elite club is expensive.

A highly recommended futsal training program in VA is NPC. Pretty sure based out of Annandale/Springfield. They do year round training and do winter and summer leagues and tournaments.
