Deferring at Private Schools

Do you know if private schools allow you to defer admission for a year (some colleges do this). My husband and I are still trying to decide whether to apply at PK or K (or at all). If we applied at PK and got in (tall order, I know), could we just defer until K, or will we have to reapply at K the next year. We would apply at 1 school and do not have any sibling/alumna preference.

We thought of this too and I was told, you'd have to reapply and would have the same chances of getting in as the first time, if not less if it is a smaller entry year.
