CSL brand- the new FDA approved h1n1 vax

Anonymous
Hey- I may be able to get my 4 year old a thim-free h1n1 vax but it is the CSL brand.
Apparently it was only for 18+ and then in the last few weeks it was fast-tracked approved by the FDA for kids 6+ months.
Am I crazy that it makes me nervous. The h1n1 vaccine itself makes me nervous, but this whole fast fda approval thing doesn't help. I don't know what about it made it for only 18 and up... anyone have any info or thoughts?
Only other option is one with mercury. Mist isn't an option and I wouldn't do it anyways. thanks so much!

I think this happens all the time with drugs, and also vaccines. THey probably had limited testing for kids and now they have some, or have had some reason to show efficacy and safety otherwise they'd have no argument for ammendment. I'd be okay with it. But I'd also be okay with the mercury as well.

Usually these drugs are not "made" for an age group. They get tested for an age group and then approved only for those ages. It is difficult to get drugs tested for certain groups (pregnant women, babies, etc.).

The best I can say is to try to find out what testing has been done and read the results to make your own determination.

I think this is a good point. There are many more hoops one has to jump through to get testing and data on kids, so perhaps they didn't get that right away and got the vaccine out faster bc it's easier to test on adults. I suspect the formulations are pretty standard between vaccines, except for an ingredient or two here and there. AN adult gets the same dose as anyone over 3 anyway.
