VA's online license plate surrender?

We move out of VA and submitted the online license plate submission form. Do we just now keep the license plates as there are no addresses to send in the old plates? We are not looking for a refund of reg $ as they both expire within a month.

When I moved out of state, I was told I could destroy them and put them in recycling or mail them in for a partial refund. You can call the DMV to verify this is the way it still works.

I dropped mine off at the DMV for a partial refund. I didn’t trust that it would be processed without me being there.

On the other hand, the refund was way less than I thought it would be. I think I turned my plates in with 9 months to go on the tags, and I got $19 back. Wasn’t really worth my time.

I would drop it off in person but we're in CA now.
