(FYI, this is not a hint to him or anything - he is an avid gym user but is thinking about dropping the membership due to baby being on the way - I think he would love having weights in the house). It looks like there are two ways to go, either the BowFlex Select Tech type where there is only one piece and you turn dials to change weight, or a bar where you change out plates. Any thoughts on the positives and negatives of each? Also, any idea why the BowFlex ones are so much more expensive than the others and whether they are worth the extra money? Oh, and any suggestions on a weight bench to go with the weights?
We have the Bowflex ones, and they work very well. They really are easy to use, and my husband used them 3-4xweek for a year or so when we had a home gym in our old house. We actually recently moved and now live near a gym where he works out, so I would be happy to sell these for a good price (I hadn't been thinking about selling them when I clicked on this thread but just thought of it). And come to think of it, we have a weight bench to sell too, also cheaply. Of course you may well want new stuff if for a Christmas present, but if you just wanted to get these for fun and then something else for the present or else were looking for things in very good shape but not perfectly new, I'd be happy to pass them along at a decent price.
