Jeff, if you’re not going to clear trolls like this out of the Religion forum, why not just rename it the Atheist forum? Most religious people have left that forum anyway because of the trolling. The top posts are mostly by atheists, or they were started by religious people and then taken over by atheists (the Which Bible Do You Read? thread).

A new name would be good for your site. That’s because it would ensure that newbies are spared the inevitable anger and frustration when they realize they can’t actually talk about, you know, religion there.

Personally speaking, I enjoy having thoughtful atheists to talk to. The trolls make any type of discussion impossible, though.

Just to be clear, the posts I “don’t like” are the deceitful/misrepresenting, taunting and snarky posts that OP specializes in, represented in a relatively tame-for-him way at 7:57. Thoughtful discussions with atheists are fun and provocative in a good way.

I fear removing Religion from Recent Topics won’t help, though. OP seems to live on the Religion forum, posting 24/7 and starting new threads all the time. Cases in point from just this week: the nasty thread on religious kids (now deleted) based on a discredited study. Or the thread (also now deleted) based on a 2-year-old article about a Catholic Church scandal.

Reporting trolling doesn’t help, either. Often the trolling takes the form of shameless misrepresentation of what another pp said, complete with truncating the original quote. See the last 3 pages of the Pew thread for an example. How do you report that without writing a thesis to the moderator?

Just rename it the Atheist Forum and be done. It would save the moderator a lot of time policing that forum.

I know I sound like a broken record, but use the "report" button. As the previous poster demonstrated by mentioning two now-deleted threads, the "report" button gets results.
