What are some activities a mother’s helper can do with a 15 month old

Anonymous
I’ve got a mother’s helper (13y) for my 15 month old. She comes for a few hours a week. Besides the usual reading books, playing with toys, any other suggestions on how to best utilize her help? I really like her and want to keep her interest to turn into a babysitter soon.

Thanks!

Not much at both of their ages. I wouldn’t rely too much on a 13 year old to babysit a 15 month old other than playing/ reading / singing. She is a child herself.

Can she take your toddler outside - walk around the yard, throw a ball, push something around like a toy lawn mower -type thing? Maybe go for a wagon ride? Stroller ride around the block.
Fill a bucket of water, water table, kiddie pool type thing and play? Sand box?

What’s her experience? Did she did the American Red Cross Babysitter Training?

Well, I babysat at 13! That being said, what do you expect, OP? Even when I leave my child with a babysitter, I don't expect anything beyond reading books or playing with toys.
