Did anyone go watch the 17-minute Apollo 11 film last night on the Mall? Did you like it? Was it easy to get in and out of the viewing area, or were the crowds too massive to move around easily?
Debating whether to drag the kiddos out to see it tonight. They’re old enough that it wouldn’t keep them up too late past their bedtime (at least for the 9:30 showing). But it’s hot as hades today.... |
My DH and DS went last night and said it was amazing. They didn’t go super close and hung in the back. |
It is amazing. It is busy but there are plenty of viewing areas. We drove and parked st my office to walk over but there were hoards of people heading to the metro. Go early bring blankets and a picnic. We had kids and dog. Everyone loved it. |
We live in DC and took the bus down. Got there just as it started. We were off center so one screen was hard to see and the other blocked the bottom of the monument but it was still amazing. Make sure you go back between 9th and 12th to catch the screens, not just the monument. The carousel is a good landmark for where to aim to stand unless you go earlier and can get closer to 9th. Crowds were big but mostly standing. Long lines at metro after so we walked a few blocks and caught a bus home. It’s short, but worth going for sure! |
It was so awesome. Not too crowded and just one of the coolest things I’ve seen in DC (and I’m a native). Driving was a little bit of a nightmare. And please don’t bring your dog- too hot and crowded. |
It’s phenomenal. Go see it. Give yourself lots of time to get there, parking is awful (we got lucky and pulled up after the 1030 show finished and people were leaving so we got a good spot). If you can metro do that. |
Oh how I wish I were in DC and could have seen this! |
