Do I give a tip to the babysitter?
One kid, 3yo
About 4-5 hours on Saturday evening
$12/hour
She used to be a teacher at his day care.

Day cares pay very little but I would up it to $15 an hour.

I asked and that’s what she told me. And is the normal going rate in our neighborhood.

What tip? She was nice to give you such a low rate. Just pay her more per hour, like $15-$18. This is not even a minimum wages in DC and living in Va, MD are just as expensive.

That's very low and what we pay 14 year old hs babysitter for an hour or two.

I dont think you need to tip if thats the rate she gave you. BUt you do need to round up. So if you owe $48 for 4 hours give $50.

Pay her $15/hr. It is not much different and she will feel valued and prioritize your job over others.

Yes, in 2019 making $12/HR is very low.

Especially for someone w/her knowledge + experience.

Even if she offered you such a low, hourly rate....
I still would have offered her more.
